on the shuttle.
i'm on the long journey home. it'll be 4 days home before i start the
even longer journey back to germany. there are only 6 people on the
shuttle total this time. there's almost one flight attendant to each
person. :)
the movie today was shallow hal. it was very funny, because everything that they did to make the "fat" gwyneth seem fat was stuff that is totally me! (consuimg huge quantities of food, finishing food before you turn around, ordering a lot of unhealthy food, always eating something - everything except breaking chairs). and the part where she says, "i know what's real. i am the kind of girl that has a lot of boy friends, but no boyfriend." :)
oh no, another movie - the curse of the jade scorpion. the first bit didn't really catch my attention, and i am not a woody fan so i'm switching it off.
well that was a nice little nap. :D 2 more hours until we land.
you know what? someday, i *will* find someone. someone who will take long weekend getaways with me to the beach. who will fly with me to hawaii for vacation. who will travel europe with me. who will go on a picnic with me, make me laugh, and share an ice cream cone with me on a hot summer's day. we can walk my dog in the park, go shopping, and cook toogether. then curl up by the fire to good movie. now if that's not pms, i can't tell you what is. hahahha...
anyway, i don't have that much planned for the next four days. i have a huge list of things i want to bring back with me, as i probably won't be returning anytime soon. i have a few friends i want to catch up with, if they still remember my name.
gaddamit. i forgot my cell phone. shiznit. i left a bag of stuff at the hotel so i wouldn't have to lug it all around... and i left my cell phone in there. holy chocolate covered gummi bears, batman. now i'm never going to get in touch with my friends. all the numbers i know are on there. doh. hah. oh well. not having a cell phone in germany has really made me forget what it's like to have one.
ok, i have a ton of work to do now. maybe i'll write more on the 5 hours trip from detroit to san francisco.
eden's crush (from pop stars) has this song called "love this way". when i'm feeling sappy, i listen to it. i'm going to be a retard and post the lyrics:
i wanna run into someone's arms
lie on a bed of roses
i wanna feel just like juliet
i wanna fall in love
i've got a feeling...
chorus:
everybody want someone to love
somebody they can trust, somebody they can touch
everybody wants to give their heart away
everybody needs a little tenderness
to feel understood, to feel passionate
everybody wants to be in love this way
i know i do. what about you?
i wanna be somebody's baby
i wanna cry and still feel beautiful
i really just want to be myself
am i the only one?
i've got a feeling...
so since there are only 6 people on this flight, i was able to go up to the cockpit and have a look in there. they showed me the controls and explained how everything works. it was pretty cool - it's almost like playing a game. there's really no steering involved, except for takeoff and landing. the pedals control the rudders, which make the plane spin left or right. the joystick thing (haha, i don't know the name for it) manuevers the plane nose up and down and tilts the plane left or right (for turning). the plane can go about 10 hours on a single tank of gas, and the model that can fly longest on a single tank of gas is another airbus model which can fly for about 16-18 hours without stopping. lufthansa apparently has a flight that does germany to hawaii, or somesuch.
detroit.
yeah, all i need is for my flight to be delayed. as if the 18 hours
of travel wasn't enough. you know, the weird thing is that in europe,
they had daylight savings time already. so the time is an extra hour
off when coming to the us. also i find it weird that the weather was
beautiful in germany, but it's snowing here in detroit.
i almost feel like a tourist here. i feel like i don't belong somehow. there are so many non-mercedes/bmw/porsche cars, it is so diverse, and there is so much food everywhere! :) dude, some woman is carrying a yoga mat with her. can you at least be skinny if you're going to do that? i have am seriously disillusioned now - everyone in europe is so skinny and tall. well, at least compared to the us (the fattest country in the nation, by the way). there are some real weirdos here. in germany, everything is so clean and safe - i got used to not worry about scary guys or dangerous situations.
it's been so long since i've opened up to anyone. i feel like a turtle - i've really built up my shell and i'm pretty comfortable living in it. but every once in a while, i stick my head out and almost get it bitten off. you gotta watch out for yourself.
well, the plane is finally here, so i'm going to check about getting upgraded to first class. or nevermind... the flight that came in delayed has a bunch of people who were going to connect and missed those connections - so there is a huge line. i know exactly how they must feel, and i have to say it sucks. anyway, i found a socket to plug my laptop into, so i'm happy. :)
on the plane, i ate a salad, 2 rolls, a slice of smoked duck, 12 mini mushrooms, 2 slices of chicken breast, 5 broccoli flowers, 4 mini packages of gummi things, 1 mini chocolate biscuit, 1 package of cashews, 2 rolls, and a slice of apple pie. oh yeah, then at the airport, i had a strawberry / chocolate tcby yogurt cup.
yeah... so guess where i am. it's 4:30pm est. yes, i am still in detroit. i arrived here at 12:30pm est. i have already boarded and de-boarded one plane (apprently there was some problem refueling the plane), and now i'm waiting to re-board a new plane.
we didn't take off until 5:30 pm. but i'm home now. yay!
